This blog started out as an adoption profile to let others get to know us. We have now adopted the sweetest little guy. His name is Max. He was born with Down Syndrome, and we think he's perfect! This blog is now about our journey forward with him. We have another blog (link here) that details the more crazy everyday happenings in our household. Feel free to check it out as well. I update it more frequently. Someday, I may combine the two blogs. For now, this is for Max, his birthparents, and anyone else who wishes to follow our miracle :)

Stats

At Max's 2 month well-baby check, he weighed in at 10.3 lbs {50 percentile on DS growth chart} and has grown to 21.5 inches {33 percentile on DS growth chart}.
{at birth he was 6.7 lbs and 20.1 inches}

His oxygen count was a bit low, so he's back on the Lasix medication that he was originally on at birth. Our pediatrician, Dr. George Durham {if anyone in the SLC area needs a great pediatrician - we have been going to him since Piper was born and love him! And as far as DS goes, well, he has an adult daughter with DS who works in his office and he heads up the Down Syndrome Clinic at Primary Children's Medical Center - he even got a little teary-eyed when he met Max for the first time}, thought he was doing really well other than the oxygen levels. We will be seeing a cardiologist on the 18th to schedule his heart surgery. I still cringe at the thought of it but can't wait til his heart his functioning properly (he has an AV canal defect - a hole in each of the four chambers).

And just an FYI - I found this online the other day and thought it was interesting...

Yay Max...you are growing just right...so glad you have such an awesome pediatrician who has his heart in the right place just for Max as well as all children. Our ped is ok, and has had a couple of DS kids in his practice and is very open minded to everything we request...but I wish we had one that has been directly affected by someone with Down syndrome, like yours...I'm sure all will go well with Max's heart surgery...we haven't had to go down that road, but so many parents have and have had all success stories...There are a number of moms on my blog roll that have been there, so let me know if you would want to ask them any questions...they are so great! Brayden was cleared of all health issues since birth and has been still...we were blessed with that but know that things can arise at any time...
Again, you and your family are an example to so many...you are going to enjoy this journey with Max...I don't know where our life would be without our little Brayden.

Glad to read he is doing so well! How tall were his birth parents? Lily's birth mom was 5'11" and her birth dad was over 6" so were are hoping she will be a little taller than most individuals with Ds. George Durham is the best! I love the milestones and will use them on the website!
